Happy Halloween!

We don't get tired of firsts around here.

This weekend we celebrated Asher's 1st Halloween! We had "Zoe Night" (Zoe means life) at church on Friday night and Asher rocked an awesome costume. He was the scarecrow from "The Wizard of Oz". I (Allyson) have a weird top three movies of all time...in no particular order they include "Dirty Dancing", "The Sound of Music", and of course "The Wizard of Oz"...so the fact that Asher was the scarecrow just made my heart happy.

Here is the sweet boy all decked out and ready to go.

He wasn't completely dressed here, but the smile was just too cute.

I remember talking to Bradie last year when Asher was still in my belly and the twins were about 7 months old...we talked about being able to take this picture this year. It is way better than I could have imagined:)

Crazy kid!!!

Asher has been starting a lot of new things lately. One of them usually happens while he is eating. Not sure what to call it...besides going crazy. It's not every time he eats, but when he is in the right mood, a crazy kid comes out. Watch the video...wait for it...wait for it...

Don't know where he found this gift. Hope you enjoyed!

Tornado drill!

Our routine is basically the same after I (Allyson) pick Asher up from Jennifer's house...he blabs all the way home like he is actually telling me something...then we head inside and Asher and Daddy have a little wrestling match. After that I unload Asher's bag and start his dinner. While he eats he is full of expression. It makes me think about how life will be when he can talk and share his day with us over dinner. Today was another first for Asher. The tornado siren went off and there was a power outage! He had to hang out in the basement for awhile, but all was ok.

So, in honor of Asher's first tornado drill we decided that its never too early to learn the proper tornado drill position...

Life is quite the educational experience in the Thompson house:)

First hair cut!

I have been hounding Mark to let me trim Asher's crazy hair for a couple of reasons.

#1 It always looks dirty. Asher's hair has progressively gotten lighter so his roots are light and his tips are dark. That makes for a weird combination.
#2 I can't do anything with it. Can't comb it down or it's in his face. Can't spike it up or it is 12 inches high (OK that was an exaggeration).

Yesterday, to my surprise, Mark says "Do you want to cut his hair now?" Are you kidding me???? "YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!"

So, we hooked Asher up with a bottle distraction and went to town. Here are some before, during, and after shots for you.

Before craziness...

During the cut...

After...and we have a Blondie! (For some reason, on here it has a strawberry tint...hmmm)

Loving every first...

Pumpkins, Flowers, and Asher Oh My!

Allyson had a couple of days off this week for Fall Break so we decided to take advantage of the beautiful day and take Asher to pick his first pumpkin! As you can see, we took lots of pictures! Hope you enjoy!!!

Books!

We read books before bed, but Asher has recently started flipping through them on his own and babbling like he is actually reading. We love it! Check out our little reading boy...

Today was my(Allyson) last day with students this week...parent/teacher conferences Wednesday...then fall break! Much needed...we are looking forward to spending some time at home together!

Lots of love,

Exhausted!

Asher has recently mastered the art of going from belly to sitting to back to belly to whatever position he feels like. We put him to bed the other night like most nights...awake. He usually hangs out for a couple minutes talking to his mobile then falls asleep. He will occassionally cry for 2 or 3 minutes and konk out. This particular night was a 2 minute crying kind of night. I went in after he had been quiet for about 10 minutes to check on him and found the poor kid like this. Can you imagine how tired he had to be to fall asleep like this? Needless to say, I moved him and he slept comfortably all night....

Loving our sweet boy more each day,

"The Look"

Asher has developed a talent we like to call "The Look". He lowers his head and looks just under his eyebrows. He can go from hysterical laughing to "The Look" in no time flat. This kid is funny. We just happened to get 2 pictures of just before and during "The Look" the other day. Check out our crazy kid.

It reminds us of this classic YouTube video...

Mad...really mad.

Asher is a happy baby about 99% of the time. This is evidenced by his hilarious giggles...

But, its not all laughs at the Thompson house...sometimes we get mad. And when we are mad, we are really mad...

Mad...but still cute!

Asher, please don't hate us for this when you are 16.

Love,

Hair.

Asher's hair is officially growing like a weed. I have moments where I want to cut it so bad I can't stand it. Then I have moments where it is just laying so cute with the little hairs over his ears flipping out so cutely.

This is definitely not his best hair moment.

Obviously his dad did this to him. I just want to get that out there.

Much love from Asher's crazy parents,

We're back!

We didn't quit blogging, promise. I really have a good excuse, actually a couple. First of all, Mark left for a conference in Atlanta on Wednesday morning and stole my computer. He was gone until Saturday morning. Ok, ok...he didn't really steal it. He asked if I minded if he take it and I said nope, go ahead:)

But, even if I had the computer I probably wouldn't have done much blogging because my lovely child tried to scare me to death the whole time his daddy was in Atlanta. Remember when I told you Asher had a scary fever, but it broke and he felt 100% again? Well, he decided to break out in a nasty hivey-looking viral rash that lasted from Wednesday to Friday. Luckily, it wasn't itchy or painful, but it scared this first time mommy anyway. Here is a picture of his rash. The picture doesn't do it justice. The flash makes it look lighter than in person. It was bright red!

Thankfully we have had no rash since Friday! Friday night my mommy aka Grandma came into town for a good visit. Mark rolled into town at about 3 am that night/Saturday morning from his conference. We are happy to have daddy back!

I wanted to end this random post with 2 pictures. Asher has quite possibly the most awesome bed hair ever. The first is a "before picture". His hair is nice and combed and somewhere near his head...

"Before hair"

This is the "after" shot. This is Asher on Sunday morning waking Grandma up in her "grandparent suite" also known as the "guest bedroom". I honestly didn't touch his hair to make it do this...it's all natural. Try not to be jealous.

"After hair"

Have a fantastic week!

Sleep does a body good...oh and Motrin.

Last night Asher was feeling a bit warm, but had multiple layers on and zonked out as soon as we got home, so we figured he was fine. When we picked him up from the babysitter today, she told us he felt warm all day and was a little clingy and tired. So, of course I wasn't going to be able to sleep not knowing if something was wrong. I called our pediatrician who has the world's greatest hours....open til 7 on weekdays and even open some hours on Saturday and Sunday! She got us right in and we found out our little man had a 103.5 degree fever! Goodness. Ears looked good, throat looked RED! Thankfully no strep, so the doctor sent us home with a good dose of Motrin and one tired baby boy...by the time I drove a mile down the road to our house this is what our little guy looked like...

After a good 2 hour nap, breaking the fever with a sweat, taking a bath, and a bottle the little guy was good as new! Check it out for yourself...

Whew, we all feel better!

One lucky boy.

We can honestly say that Asher is genuinely loved by so many people. Between family and friends, Asher has an army of people that love, care, and pray for him on a daily basis. Mark and I will never be able to express our gratitude for that.

One of the great things about our job here in Bedford is that we get to love on the teens at our church and in our community. Something we knew would happen, but didn't fully understand was how much they would love on our little boy. Here is just one example of two of our kids loving on our little boy.

Jake, Asher, and Morgan and their hoodie club:)
