Full Term!

Well, here we are...37 weeks which means Asher is officially full term! We received our weekly email about Asher's development and it says his lungs are ready for the outside world. We look forward to posting a few blogs on our Christmas festivities the next couple of days. It has been a great week and a half! For now, check Allyson out with Mark and her mom and dad.

Hope everyone enjoyed a Merry Christmas!

What not to say...

During the past 36 weeks of my life, I have come to find that there are some things that should never be said to a pregnant woman. I would like to share a few things that have been said to me that actually make me (Allyson) laugh out loud as I write them in this blog. Now, don’t get me wrong, these really haven’t hurt my feelings because I think that some of them have actually come from a good place, but come on…not cool. Here are my top 5. 4 through 1 were actually said by adults with college degrees which might make them even more funny.

#5 “Wow, Mrs. Thompson. That shirt really makes you look large today.”
#4 “You are only 34 weeks pregnant? I would have guessed you were going to have him any day now.”
#3 “I think you grew over the weekend!”
#2 “You are all baby, but I tell you…that is one big baby!”
#1 “I had a big baby and I almost didn’t make it. I am serious, I almost didn’t. It was a miracle I was able to deliver. I hope you don’t have the same trouble as me.”

My common response to these statements is a blank look, followed by, “Thank-you….Yes….or Me too...” Other than that I have been at quite a loss for words.
My personal favorite is #1….I hope labor doesn’t almost kill me too….I think most people feel that way, there is no need to say it out loud. Trust me, it is understood:)

Hopefully this gave you as good a laugh as it did us!
Can’t wait for our trip to Ohio tomorrow!
Merry Christmas,
Mark and Allyson.....and her big belly:)

34 1/2 Weeks...38 Days

34 1/2 weeks along. Somewhere around 38 days to go. Anyone else getting excited?!?!?!?!?
Allyson is feeling great. We are starting to get those facial expressions and a few comments summed up by this..."Wow, Allyson is really pregnant"...in a good way. Not that she wasn't before, but her belly is gettin' big!! It doesn't get easier for her the next few weeks, so we appreciate all your continued prayers. We are so blessed!

Con mucho excitemento! (apologies to those who really know Spanish)

The Christmas season (as I'm sure it is for most of you) has been quite busy for us. Throw in finalizing preparations for Asher and the busy meter goes through the roof. The nursery is just about complete. Allyson bought the last pieces of furniture we needed with gift cards collected at various baby showers. Mark enjoyed assembling those on Sunday night. All we need now is to hang a few things on the wall and a baby to call it home! Here is a sneak peak at the room for those interested.

The build-a-bear (dog) in the crib was made by Caleb and Cully. Hope the 'juice' in the recording lasts for a while since we listen to it every time we are in there.

We love you all!
